With the games we have played in the series, we found there always seemed to be some items on the list that were especially difficult to find. For those with a real competitive drive, the speed of finding the objects activates a score multiplier and enables you to better your previous total By skipping a lot of the dialogue, we were able to finish a game in about 7 hours. There are hours and hours of fun awaiting you. And not only that, but each time you play a scene you are not necessarily presented with the same list of items. Twenty scenes times six variations of HOG provide one hundred and twenty different scenarios. For each of the twenty scenes, you can attempt to solve the list using each of the six types. ![]() The games in the series have great replayability. Once you have finished a chapter, you open up the Unlimited mode. The most challenging was a novel Spot the Differences game which used four screens at the same time. ![]() To complete the chapter, a final mini-puzzle game has to be solved which might involve what does not belong, cleaning up an antique, and more. The complexity of the puzzles increases as you move along. You will need to either spin a piece or switch places or do both. Again the games provide a multitude of variations on the jigsaw puzzle type. These range from jigsaw puzzles to finding the differences and more. You must find a specific number of the target item.Īfter you have completed a chapter, you then play a mini-game. The list in this case is comprised of one item only, like a towel or a horseshoe. The last and probably the easiest is the Collection. Fortunately, the initial letter in the word is capitalized which is of tremendous help in deciphering the clue. In the Scramble mode, the letters of the item are mixed up. Silhouette provides a shadow image while Picture is a depiction of each item. You must locate the items one at a time rather than being able to search for any on the list. In Riddle, you must solve riddles to learn the names of the objects you are trying to find. The normal type has a simple name associated with the object. As you play the initial game going from chapter to chapter, you will find that there are six varieties of hidden object themes. Every chapter presents you with several of these locations to explore as well as the number of items to be discovered in each one. In this game, you will explore twenty different locations. The background music mirrors the theme of the game. The detail and the colours make the scenery come to life. The graphics used in these games are superb. I play this type of game solely for the pleasure of finding all the objects and I prefer not to be distracted by inessential dialogue. I have to admit that I skipped most of the interactions. The game comes with the option to skip the dialogue and proceed directly to searching for the list of camouflaged items. As with most games of this type, the dialogue does not have anything to do with finding the items. Each scene starts with the story dialogue which sets the stage for the hidden object window. There is no wandering around looking for inventory items to help to solve a mini-puzzle. I consider all the Faircroft’s Antique games to be pure HOG. This game has an alpine theme to it and the various scenes reflect this. The storyline sets the stage for each of the HOG scenes. Once found, you need only click on the object and it is removed from the list. I would venture to say that more than a hundred items could be found per picture of which only a dozen or so are to be part of the list. It is only with the careful observation that all the items can be found. A bat could be an animal or a baseball bat. Searching for a bee might be for an insect or the letter B. Also, the name might not be as helpful as you might think. It is exceedingly difficult to quickly find all the items as they are well concealed. These are carefully hidden in the picture. The basic objective of the HOG is to locate camouflaged items from a list of objects. By playing through numerous hidden object scenes and mini-games you and Mia will help two estranged sisters overcome their rocky history. Now you can join Mia in this new adventure as she travels to Mont Caché, a cozy town in the French Alps. Mia Faircroft has travelled all around the world in search of precious antiques. The Mountaineer’s Legacy is the fifth in this series. I have been playing their games for many years and I have yet to be disappointed with the gameplay of their products.
